venus is local-first: no feature-use or terminal telemetry. Here is exactly what that means, including the limited events our services do record.

Overview
venus is designed to be local-first. The app runs on your machine, and by default your work stays on your machine. venus does not collect feature-use telemetry or terminal content — we do not track which features you use, and terminal output, keystrokes, and transferred files are never sent to us. We do, separately, record service-access events: a coarse trial/license validation event when the app checks in, and aggregate download counts for the installer. This policy describes those events and the limited information involved in optional cloud sync, licensing, software updates, and the marketing website.
Who runs venus
venus is owned by Tensordata Global Private Limited and is developed and published by Innopay Technologies Private Limited. If you email us for support, we process your message and any attachments you send solely to respond to you.

Data stored on your device
By default, venus is local-first: your hosts, settings, snippets, and workspaces are stored on your computer. SSH passwords and key passphrases are kept in your operating system's secure credential store (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or the Linux Secret Service); the optional encrypted vault (Argon2id + XChaCha20-Poly1305) encrypts your saved host profiles at rest. Terminal output, keystrokes, and the files you transfer over SSH/SFTP stay on your device and the servers you connect to — they never pass through our systems.
Optional cloud sync (Pro)
Cloud sync is off by default and opt-in. When you turn it on, venus uploads end-to-end encrypted copies of your hosts, snippets, settings, and workspaces so they follow you across your devices. Encryption happens on your device with a key derived from a passphrase only you hold; the encrypted content stays unreadable to the server, which stores only ciphertext plus opaque identifiers, timestamps, and auth metadata. Setting up sync processes your license token to authorize it. Secrets (passwords and passphrases) stay in that credential store and are not synced. Disabling sync leaves existing cloud copies in place. “Forget synced data” requests deletion; a failed request can leave copies on the server — contact us if deletion can't be completed.
Information the licensing service processes
To enforce the trial and keep Pro active, venus checks in with the licensing service at startup and periodically (about every six hours) — including after the trial has expired. A signed license is verified on-device and keeps working offline, so a temporary outage doesn't lock you out. When a license token is present it is validated at check-in.
For each check-in the service records a coarse, hashed per-install event: your machine identifier is stored as a truncated hash, alongside your original trial start and, if you supplied it, your email. These events are pruned after about 90 days and the total is bounded. Your request IP is used transiently for rate-limiting and is not stored with the event. A stored license payload, when present, contains your email, an id, the tier, and its validity window. No terminal content, keystrokes, or transferred files are involved.
Payments
Online payments aren't available yet, and venus doesn't currently collect card details. Before payments launch we'll name the provider and explain what billing data is processed, and we'll update this policy accordingly.
Software updates
venus checks venus.tensordata.com for a newer version — automatically and when you choose “Check for Updates…”. This request carries your version and platform and, like any web request, briefly exposes your IP to our server. We don't use it to profile you, and you can decline updates.
Website
The venus marketing website sets no cookies and runs no third-party analytics or trackers. What we record is an aggregate download count — daily totals per installer, without per-visitor identifiers — used to gauge interest. If this ever changes, we will disclose it here and update the date above.
Your choices and contact
Because your venus data lives on your device, you remain in control of it — you can view, export, and delete it locally, and you can remove any cloud-synced copy with “Forget synced data”.
